Moose Jaw offers a wide variety of recreation activities for visitors to the Friendly City to watch or participate in.

Summer activities include golf, baseball, fastball, slo-pitch, picnics, soccer, lacrosse, swimming, camping and a wide variety of summer fun programs.

In the winter hockey, skiing, curling, figure skating, swimming, basketball and volleyball are all available.

Crescent Park Crescent Park

This 28 acre park is well groomed with flowers, trees and a waterway. It offers an outdoor pool, tennis courts, lawn bowling, an outdoor amphitheatre, library, art gallery, museum and auditorium.

The other major parks in the city are Spring Creek Park, Happy Valley Park, Elgin Park, Sunningdale Park and Smith Park. Additional information can be found at Parks.

Cross-Country Skiing

Access to the Cross-Country Skiing trail is located next to the speed skating oval on River Drive in Wakamow Valley. Each trail is a different length with the green trail at 1.75 km, the blue trail at 4.0 km and the red trail at 7.5 km. Each trail is complemented by the scenic beauty of Wakamow Valley and utilizes the hills and trees to produce groomed trails. There is no charge for the use of these trails.

Fishing

You can find walleye, pickerel, jackfish, perch, and other fish at Lake Diefenbaker, Buffalo Pound Lake and Last Mountain Lakes.

Fitness

The YM/YWCA 220 Fairford Street E., Moose Jaw, Sk (306) 692-0688 contains a full set of facilities for personal fitness training, including a conditioning centre, gymnasium, racquetball and squash courts, steam and sauna room, fitness testing centre, shower and locker facilities, meeting rooms, a child care centre, and is located across from an outdoor pool and the Spa. They offer youth and adult fitness classes and programs, and aquatic lessons. Memberships are available and they are open seven days a week and selected statutory holidays.

Golf

There are a number of golf courses in and around Moose Jaw. The major ones have 18 hole courses with grass greens, fully stocked pro shops and snack bars or restaurants. Whether you're looking to just shoot a bucket of balls at the driving range or to play a full 18 holes, these courses will have exactly what you're looking for. Per capita, Saskatchewan has more golf courses than any other place in the world, so take a relaxing holiday and step onto the green!

Hunting

White tail deer, mule deer and antelope are in abundance for the hunting season. For hunting duck and goose, there are plenty near Old Wives Lake, Pelican Lake and sloughs and lakes south west of Moose Jaw. You can also find sharp-tailed grouse and Hungarian Partidge in the same regions.

There are three major skating arenas in the city available for hockey and public skating in the winter months.

Swimming

The new sports complex features a 25 x 25m main pool, water slide, steam room, family change rooms, Wet & Dry Cafe, zero beach leisure pool, diving boards, hot tub, meeting room and free parking.

This olympic sized outdoor pool is situated in the heart of Crescent Park in downtown Moose Jaw. It has lap lanes,diving boards, change rooms and a kid's pool with a kid's waterpark right beside it.

Memberships are available which allow access to both pools and the skating arena at the KinsmenSportsplex. The pools also offer swimming lessons, water workouts, instructor courses and otherspecial programs.

Wakamow Valley

Wakamow Valley meaning "the River of Turns" is situated in the beautiful River Valley. It consists of a number of walking, hiking and biking trails, as well as picnic and barbecue sites, playgrounds, canoe launch, sun shelters, outdoor skating and cross country ski trails. Their trails extend over 8 km through River Valley and coupled with the Rotary Trail, Moose Jaw has over 20 km in trails throughout the city.

Walking Trails

Walking Trail Over 40 kilometres of walking trails encircle the city. Joggers, walkers and inline enthusiasts all take advantage of the varied terrain and sites along the Trails to enhance their outdoor experience. The pathway system winds through well manicured and treed areas into untouched prairie landscape. Urban sections and environmentally significant loop portions add an interesting dimension.
