CCTV

This video magnification system allows individuals with partial sight to read with greater ease. It provides magnification of text and graphics. The equipment is excellent for reading letters, bills, magazine articles and viewing photographs.

The CCTV was funded by the Foundation for Centre in the Park through a donation from the Early Bird Lions Club and by a grant from the National Library of Canada.

Homebound Service

The Public Library provides a delivery service to the homes of those who are unable to visit the library because of illness, age or disability. Library staff select materials based on a profile provided by the user. Deliveries are made on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Call 692-2787 and ask for the shut-in service.

Any resident of Moose Jaw is eligible if they are for reasons of age, disability or extended illness unable to come to the library and if they have no family or friends who could come to the library for them.

For those who do have family or friends who could pick up materials at the library, arrangements can be made for library staff to select the materials which can then be picked up at the library.

Interlibrary Loan Service

Individuals who require a book, microfilm or magazine article not found in the Moose Jaw Public library collection may ask to have the material brought in on interlibrary loan from another library. Libraries within the province are searched first, then within Canada and sometimes libraries outside Canada when necessary.

The service is available to anyone who holds a valid Palliser Regional library card against which there are no blocks or charges in excess of $2.00. Patrons must be prepared to come to the Moose Jaw Public library to pick up the material.

There are no charges for the interlibrary loan of books. However, charges for the loan of microfilm and photocopies of magazine articles will be passed on to the borrower. Charges must be paid when the material is picked up. Borrowers are notified of the charges when they receive notification that the material has arrived.

Late return fines apply to interlibrary loan materials

Current year titles, best sellers and other popular materials cannot be borrowed through interlibrary loan. Rare books and reference materials are not usually loaned; however, on the odd occasion they are loaned, they must be used in the library. Magazines, newspapers, compact discs and video cassettes are not loaned due to their format. If the user requires only a few pages from a specialized work, magazine or newspaper, then a photocopy may be an option.

Library staff will call borrowers when the material has arrived and is available for pick up.

Loan periods are determined by the lending library and sometimes can be extended. Contact Interlibrary Loan staff at 692-2787 if you wish to renew an interlibrary loan item. Please call well before the item is due to allow time for staff to contact the lending library to determine whether a renewal is possible. You will be notified by telephone of the new due date.
