The Taxation section is responsible for the calculation, billing and collection of property taxes, including any required tax enforcement. The Taxation section collects taxes for the City, as well as for the Public and Separate School Boards.

How are my property taxes calculated?

In general property taxes are determined by a calculation that is based on the assessed value of property as determined by SAMA (Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency). This amount is then divided by 1,000 and multiplied by a mill rate and mill rate factors usually set by City Council and the school boards each year in April. The addition of other factors such as the Provincial Education Property Tax Credit and the present Hospital Levy will have an impact on the net amount of taxes payable in any year.
