Appeal Process

The Board of Revision hears appeals from taxpayers who find an error with their property's assessed value. The Board is impartial and gets its authority from The Cities Act.

Board of Revision members are appointed by City Council. They come from a variety of backgrounds. Like you, they are taxpayers. They are not City of Moose Jaw employees.

The Board of Revision is an assessment tribunal; a quasi-judicial body whose function and focus is to determine whether an error has been made in the assessment of a property. The Board of Revision is not intended to deal with unrelated issues such as the adequacy of municipal services, overall tax levels or mill rates. The Board hears and determines appeals pursuant to The Cities Act and in accordance with the procedures, formulas, rules and principles as found in the Saskatchewan Assessment Manual.
